Den ersten Platz in der Liste der meistverkauften Videospiele beansprucht der neue Serienableger der Resident Evil-Reihe. In Zahlen ist Resident Evil 7 aber dem direkten Vorgänger Resident Evil 6 deutlich unterlegen, der allein auf der PlayStation 3 in seiner ersten Verkaufswoche über 600.000 Exemplare erreichen konnte.
