Zum dritten Mal gab es nun die Game Awards. Heute Nacht wurden die Preise in über 20 Kategorien vergeben. Die wichtigste ist dabei natürlich das Spiel des Jahres, und dieser Titel geht 2016 an Overwatch, das darüber hinaus auch noch das beste Multiplayer- sowie das beste eSports-Spiel geworden ist und auch Blizzard den Titel "Best Game Direction" eingebracht hat. Die mobile Knuddelmonsterjagd Pokémon Go ist gleich doppelt vertreten, genau wie Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Doom und Inside. Was am wenigsten überraschen dürfte ist das am meisten erwartete Spiel: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
